After earning his bachelor's degree in sociology from the The University of
Texas in 2003, Nick entered The University of Texas School of Law,
graduating with a doctorate of jurisprudence in 2006.
During his undergraduate years, Nick was introduced into criminal law by
working as a police dispatcher. He also served as a Legislative Aide for Texas
Senator Frank Madla, focusing on criminal justice issues and rural economic
affairs. During law school, he also clerked for the Office of the Texas
Attorney General, in the Criminal Law Enforcement Division.
After receiving his law license in 2006, Nick took a position as an Assistant
Criminal District Attorney for Galveston County, where he prosecuted
criminal cases. This experience equipped him with a thorough understanding
of the criminal law process. Nick then entered private practice as a criminal
defense attorney in 2009.
Nick Poehl is licensed by the Texas Supreme Court to practice in all state and
local courts in Texas.
Nick is a native to Houston, though he has lived all over the United States. In
his free time he is an avid reader and huge sports fan. He is currently
enjoying building his family in League City, Texas.
